[Abstract] Objective: To survey the epidemiology, pathological category and clinical manifestation of lupus nephritis (LN) and to investigate the interrelationship between clinical features and pathological category. Methods: The clinicopathological data of 59 cases diagnosed as LN undergoing renal biopsy were obtained. The patients came from Department of Nephropathy, the Affiliated Zhongda Hospital to Southeast University from October 2003 to December 2009. The distribution of clinical features, the distribution of pathological patterns, the interrelationship between clinical features, pathological patterns and immunne index were analyzed. Results: There were 8 males and 51 females, and the ratio of male to female was 1:6.3. The mean age of the male patients was (28.6±10.6) years old and female patients was (37.3±10.3) years old. In the 59 cases, type IV LN was the most frequent type (55.9%), followed by type Ⅲ(11.9%), V(10.2%), II(8.4%), IV plus V(8.4%) and Ⅲ plus V (5.1%) of LN. The patients which the clinical manifestations was latent glomerulonephritis or nephritic syndrome were mainly type II or Ⅲ of LN, nephrotic syndrome were mostly type IV, V, Ⅳ plus Ⅴ or Ⅲ plus Ⅴ of LN. Cases their clinical diagnose being renal failure were mainly type Ⅳor Ⅳ plusⅤ of LN, which had a significance compared with oter types of LN (P <0.05). The patients of type IV of LN were mainly hematuria. The most frequency of anemia in type Ⅳ or Ⅳ plusⅤ of LN compare to other types of LN(P <0.05).The prevalence of hypertension was significantly increased in types Ⅳ,Ⅴor Ⅳ plus Ⅴ of LN than types Ⅱ and Ⅲ of LN (P <0.05). Active index of type IV of LN was mostly higher than other types of LN (P <0.05). Among immune index, the decreased levels of complement C3, higher levels of anti-dsDNA and anti-nuclear antibody in serum were mostly observed. Furthermore, the level of complement C3 in type IV of LN was significantly decreased than other types of LN (P <0.05). Conclus |
