Objective: To analyze the clinical relationship between intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) gene polymorphism and colon polyp recurrence. Method: A total of 159 patients with colon polyps undergoing endoscopic surgery admitted to our unit from January 2021 to August 2022 were enrolled as the study objects, and the polymorphism of ICAM-1 gene was detected by polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) technology. After 1 year of follow-up, patients were divided into recurrence group and non-recurrence group according to whether they had relapsed or not. The general information and ICAM-1 gene polymorphism of the two groups were compared. Logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the factors affecting the recurrence of colon polyps. Results: ICAM-1 gene K469E polymorphic loci contained 2 alleles(K, E) and 3 genotypes(KK, KE, EE). During the follow-up period, the recurrence rate of colon polyps was 18.24%. The polyp diameter, proportion of multiple polyps, proportion of adenomatous polyps, frequency of ICAM-1 gene K allele and proportion of KK genotype in the recurrent group were higher than those in the non-recurrent group(P<0.05). The E allele frequency and EE genotype proportion of ICAM-1 gene were lower than those of non-relapsed group(P<0.05). Polyp diameter(OR=1.692, 95%CI: 1.304-2.196), multiple polyps(OR=1.647, 95%CI: 1.128-2.204), adenomatous polyps(OR=1.464, 95%CI: 1.108-1.933) and ICAM-1 genotype KK(OR=1.887, 95%CI: 1.265-2.815) were the risk factors for postoperative recurrence in patients with colon polyps(P<0.05). Conclusion: The frequency of ICAM-1 gene K allele and the proportion of KK genotype in patients with recurrent colon polyps are higher than those in the non-recurrent group. ICAM-1 gene polymorphism, an influencing factor for postoperative recurrence in colon polyp patients, has potential clinical predictive value for colon polyp recurrence. |
