Objective: To discuss the expression of long non-coding RNA SOX2 overlapping transcripts(lncRNA SOX2OT) in gastric cancer tissues and its relationship with prognosis. Methods: A total of 105 gastric cancer patients diagnosed and treated in our hospital were selected as the research objects. During the operation, the cancer tissues and the normal gastric mucosa adjacent to the cancer were collected, and the expression level of lncRNA SOX2OT in the tissues was detected by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR). The clinical data of the patients were recorded and the patients were followed up for 3 years. The relationship between the expression level of lncRNA SOX2OT and the clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed. Kaplan-Meier method and Log rank test were used to analyze the relationship between the expression of lncRNA SOX2OT in gastric cancer and the survival rate of patients. Cox regression model was used to analyze the risk factors for the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. Results: The expression level of lncRNA SOX2OT in cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues(3.49±0.57 vs. 1.16±0.32), and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The expression of lncRNA SOX2OT was not related to age, gender, drinking ratio, tumor location and smoking(P>0.05), but was related to TNM stage, tumor diameter, lymph node metastasis and degree of differentiation(P<0.05). Survival analysis showed that the 3-year survival rate of lncRNA SOX2OT low expression group was higher than that of higher expression group(75.51% vs. 55.35%, Log rank χ2=4.451, P=0.031). Cox multivariate analysis confirmed that poorly differentiated gastric cancer, stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ, and high expression of lncRNA SOX2OT were risk factors affecting the prognosis of gastric cancer patients(P<0.05). Conclusion: The expression of lncRNA SOX2OT is up-regulated in gastric cancer tissue, which may be involved in gastric cancer progression. |
