Objective: To study the changes and clinical significance of plasma IFN-α, IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12p70, and IL-17 in children with respiratory tract infections of acute upper respiratory tract infection, bronchopneumonia, or acute suppurative tonsillitis. Methods: A total of 271 patients with respiratory tract infections admitted to the Xuzhou Central Hospital from April 2020 to July 2022 were selected. The levels of 12 cytokines were analyzed by multiplex microsphere flow immunofluorescence method. Results: In children with respiratory tract infections, the serum levels of IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, and IFN-γ were higher than those in plasma(P<0.05). The plasma levels of IFN-α, IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 in children with acute upper respiratory tract infection group were significantly increased(P<0.05). In bronchopneumonia group, the concentrations of plasma IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). However, the changes of 12 cytokines were not statistically significant in patients with acute suppurative tonsillitis(P>0.05). Conclusion: Our results indicate that specific plasma and serum cytokine profiles play important roles in the pathogenesis of respiratory tract infections, which may be an important immunological monitoring index for identifying the severity of the disease. |
