Objective:To discuss the correlation between limb arterial stiffness and osteoporosis in middle-aged and elderly people. Methods:Ninety-one hospitalized patients were included in this study, and their bone mineral density and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV)were measured by dual energy X-ray bone density and Doppler ultrasonography. According to bone mineral density T value, the patients were divided into normal bone mass, osteopenia and osteoporosis group. Meanwhile, the patients were divided into low baPWV and high baPWV group in accordance with baPWV value, and the clinical characteristics and biochemical indexes of the groups were compared and analyzed. Results:(1)The age, baPWV and BMI had significant differences in the different bone mass groups(P<0.05).No significant differences were found in the levels of FBG,CHO,TG,HDL,LDL,SBP and DBP in the three groups(P>0.05).(2)There were significant differences of the age, BMI, SBP and T value(P<0.05)between the low baPWV and the high baPWV group,while there were no statistical differences in the levels of FBG, CHO, TG, HDL, LDL, SBP and DBP between the two groups(P>0.05).(3)baPWV was positively correlated with age and SBP,but negatively correlated with bone mineral density T value and BMI. Bone mineral density T value was negatively correlated with age and baPWV, but positively correlated with BMI. Conclusion:Limb arterial stiffness is related with osteoporosis in middle-aged and elderly people. Early detection of peripheral arterial sclerosis and bone density may be helpful for the prevention of atherosclerosis and osteoporosis. |
