Objective: To explore the expression of p53, Ki-67 and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and its relation with radiotherapy effect and prognosis. Methods: Eighty-three esophageal carcinoma patients who underwent esophageal radiotherapy in our hosiptal were analyzed. Expressions of p53,Ki-67and PCNA were detected by immunohistochemistry, and its relation with clinicopathologic features, radiotherapy effect and survival rate of esophageal carcinoma patients was analyzed. Results: The positive expression rates of p53,Ki-67and PCNA were 57.8%,72.3%and 67.5%, respectively. The expressions of p53,Ki-67and PCNA in different gender,age,tumor position and size had no statistical differences(P>0.05).p53 was related to the tumor differentiation degree, clinical stage,lymph node metastasis and radiotherapy effect(P<0.05).Ki-67 was related to the tumor differentiation degree,lymph node metastasis and radiotherapy effect (P<0.05). PCNA was related to the clinical stage,lymph node metastasis and radiotherapy effect (P<0.05).Three years overall survival rates of patients in low and high p53 expression groups were 57.14% and 27.08%,respectively. Conclusion: p53, Ki-67 and PCNA can be used as the predictive markers for judguing malignant degree and radiosensitivity of esophageal carcinoma.p53 will be a useful marker for evaluating the prognosis of esophageal carcinoma. |
