Objective: To evaluate the role of confocal microscopy corneal examination in determining the treatments during the follow-up period of dry eye patients. Methods: 150 dry eye patients(300 eyes) were diagnosed and treated, and grouped A and B, followed up for half a year. The treatments of patients in group A were modified according to the changes of confocal microscopy corneal examination, whereas those of group B were done based on the usual dry eye clinical tests, except for which, the drugs and treatments were consistent between group A and B. Results: The total improvement rate of patients in group A were 63%, which was significantly higher than that of group B(35%); the SIt and BUT levels of patients in group A after treatments were both significantly better than those of group B. Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of dry eye patients modified aaccording to the changes of confocal microscopy corneal examination is significantly better than that modified according to the usual follow-up dry eye tests. |
