Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the clinical effect of removable transpalatal arch combined with mandibular occlusal pad for correction of unilateral posterior crossbite by means of model analysis. Methods: 11 patients with maxillary posterior crossbite were treated by removable transpalatal arch combined with mandibular occlusal pad. The widths between frist premolars, second premolars, first molars and the inclination of first molars were measured at pretreatment and posttreatment. All data was analysed by SPSS statistical software. Results: After maxillary expansion, the widths of posterior crossbite lateral and inclination of first molars increased evidently. While, the normal lateral widths didn't not significantly change. Conclusion: According to this study, removable transpalatal arch combined with mandibular occlusal pad is a simple and effective method for correcting unilateral posterior crossbite. |
