Objective To manufacture porous bone scaffolds to meet the demands of tissue engineering, and to study their biocompatibility. Methods Porous scaffolds were made from hydroxyapatite powders prepared in laboratory by technique of polymer foam soakage, osteoblasts were cultured in vitro on the scaffolds to determine biocompatibility of samples.Result and Conclusion The bone scaffolds obtained by this “foaming technique” were found to have uniform and interconnected porosity, with typical pore sizes ranging from 100 to 500 microns and ideal biologic characteristic.
