Objective  To investigate the characteristic of benign postmenopausual bleeding which results from fluctuation of estrogen content in postmenopausual women.Methods  A retrospective study was carried out of one hundred fifty nine patients with postmenopausual bleeding resulting from benign disease who underwent surgical procedure in our hospital since January 1,1984.Results  Analysis revealed among postmenopausal bleeding disease the shorter duration of menopause,the higher rates the preexisting uterine illnesses detected.The longer duration of menopause,the more cases of endometrial disease seen.Conclusion  Estrogen content fluctuation of postmenopausual women results from many causes,which may be more likely to result in bleeding in women with underlying reproductive disease.
