Objective To study the telomerase activity expression in human ovarian tumor tissues and its clinical significance.Method Telomerase activity was determined by using TRAP ELISA in ovarian tumor specimens, obtained from 21 women with ovarian tumors including 8 malignant,13 benign tumors and 4 normal ovarian tissues. Results The differences of telomerase activity expression in the tissues between the malignant ovarian tumors and the benign ovarian tumors were statistically significant( P <0.05),the differences between the malignant ovarian tumors and normal ovaries were statistically significant( P <0.05) as well, but the differences between the benign ovarian tumors and normal ovaries were not statistically significant( P >0.05).Telomerase activity in one case of recurrent ovarian serous papillary cystadenocarcinoma with chemical therapy was detected weak positive expression. Conclusions The detection of telomerase activity in ovarian tumors has an important reference value for the diagnosis and prognosis estimation. |
