目前的研究结果表明,Tourette综合征(TS)具有明显的遗传倾向.TS的神经病理学研究表明,纹状体多巴胺丰富的细胞群中存在一种异常的细胞类型.同时,中脑边缘多巴胺通道平衡失调导致边缘系统抑制障碍是引起TS的神经生长基础.基底神经节和边缘系统的特殊部位异常发育可能与TS有关,而这些异常发育均在性激素的控制下并间接受兴奋性氨基酸的影响.TS常伴随着一系列相关的行为和情绪症状,包括强迫症(OCD)、注意缺陷多动障碍(ADHD)、学习困难、情绪障碍、自伤行为和猥亵行为等.
