Objective The experiment was designed to observe the effect of sodium phenylacetate(NaPA) on the healing of injury in rabbits. Methods The traumatic models were established on 24 white body weight 1.6~2.6 kg,which were allocated into intravenous injection group, local medication group, and control group,8 rabbits in each group. The observation was carried out for 21 days after trauma. Results The sizes of injury on day 6 after injury in 2 medicated groups were significantly smaller than those in the control group ( P <0.05);the healing rate of 2 medicated groups was significantly higher than those of control from day 15 after injury. The blood fibronectin levels in 3 groups at different days after injury did not show any significant difference. Conclusion Sodium phenylacetate has an effect on the healing of injury. No close relationship between the fibronectin levels and injury healing was found.
