Objective This work was designed to investigate the clinical value of transcranial Doppler sonography(TCD) in dignosis of vascular migraine in children. Method The blood volume of intracranial vessel was measured with TCD in 30 children patients with vascular migraine attack and 30 matched controls. Results The mean flow velocity(MFV) of intracranial vessel in patients with vascular migraine attack was significantly lower than that in the control. There was a parallel relationship between the severity of disease and the MFV. The pulsatility index of internal and external carotid was also lower than that in the control, but no statistical difference was shown. Conclusion The hemodynamics changes in the intracranial vessel were observed in children patients with vascular magraine attack by TCD. TCD study may be useful in diagnosis of vascular magraine and supply a good index for judging the severity of the disease.
