Objective To explore the effects and mechanisms of coffee on bladder dysfunction in the diabetic rats. Methods SD rats were divided at random into DM group,Coffee group and NC group.Diabetic rat model was induced by injection of streptozotocin into peritoneal cavity. After 7 weeks, the bladder wet weight, volume threshold for micturation,V%,cAMP concentration of bladder and the changes of the detrusor strip contractility were measured and compared among the groups. Results Compared with DM group, the bladder wet weight and volume threshold for micturation were significantly reduced in Coffee group while V% and cAMP concentration of bladder were significantly increased. Moreover, the diabetic rats treated with coffee can significantly ameliorate the impaired bladder detrusor contractility. Conclusion These results indicate that coffee may have a curative effect on bladder function of diabetic rats by increasing cAMP content, improving the sensation of bladder fullness and the detrusor contractility. |
