Objective To investigate the changes of the level of serum IL-1β and TNF-α in patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism(PTE) and with fracture of femur bone(one of risk factors for PTE) to evaluate the relation between cytokines and the disease. Methods Radioimmunoassay was applied to measure serum levels of IL-1β、TNF-α in 18 acute pulmonary thromboembolism patients on the day of admission.20 patients undergoing the fracture of femur bone and 18 healthy subjects were selected as two control groups. Results On the day of admission, the median concentrations in serum of IL-1β、TNF-α were(0.722()8±0.265()4) ng·ml^{-1},(1.409()4±0.420()7) ng·ml^{-1},respectively,in the PTE group;(0.393()0±0.199()6) ng·ml^{-1},(1.154()0±0.303()5) ng·ml^{-1},P<0.05,respectively,in the fracture group and(0.222()8±0.159()4) ng·ml^1,(0.905()6±0.292()3) ng·ml^{-1},P<0.000()1,respectively,in the healthy group. Conclusion IL-1β、TNF-α may play roles in the pathogenesis of acute pulmonary thromboembolism |
