Objective To explore the effect of heat stress response on the activity of NADPH oxidase and respiratory burst in neutrophils. Methods Neutrophils from each of 18 healthy volunteers were divided into control group, heat shock group that were induced by heat shock or cadmium for heat stress response and cadmium chloride group respectively. The neutrophils were incubated in culture medium. At 0,2,3,4,6 h following heat stress induction, the heat shock protein(HSP70) expression and the respiratory burst activity were detected in the neutrophils respectively, and the activity of NADPH oxidase was observed at 0,3 h after heat stress induction. Results Heat stress response was successfully induced in the heat shock and cadmium chloride group,a progressive increase in HSP70 expression in neutrophils was detected. The neutophil respiratory burst activity decreased after heat stress response, and the NADPH oxidase activity was inhibited in the cells subjected to the stress. Conclusion Heat stress response can inhibit the NADPH oxidase activity and decrease respiratory burst activity in neutrophils, indicating that heat stress response may play a role in anti-inflammatory roles. |
