ObjectiveTo evaluate the feasibility and advantage of tension-free inguinal hernia repair under local anaesthesia.MethodsA total of 93 inguinal tension free hernia repairs were performed under local anaesthesia. The preoperative condition,p.o.consumption of analgesics, operation time, procedure of operation,p.o.complications,hospitolization and the average expense in the hospital were analyzed retrospectively.ResultAll patients tolerated well under local anaesthesia, the mean operating time was 45 minutes.Bleeding was less and anatomic structure was clearly identified in the operation. The mean duration of hospital stay was 4 days.Analgesics consumption and complications is less after operation.ConclusionInguinal hernia repair under local anaesthesia is well tolerated and associated with a low risk of complications, low cost and short period of hospital stay, which can be recommended for geriatric patients as a safe, simple and minimal invasive procedure of hernia repair. |
