Objective: Toddler's internalizing problem behaviors is one of the important results of children's socialization. It will give rise to the negative effect on children's learning, psychological health and personality development. This study aims to investigate the effects of MAOA-uVNTR polymorphism on internalizing problem behaviors of 295 toddlers. Methods: When toddlers aged 6 months, their cheek cells were collected and their internalizing problem behaviors were reported by their parents at the age of 24 months. Results: It was found that boys with 3 genotypes don't differ in the level of depression, anxiety and internalizing problem behaviors from that of boys with 4 genotypes significantly. The level of depression, anxiety and internalizing problem behaviors of girls with 3/3 and 3/4 genotypes shows no difference with that of girls with 4/4 genotypes. Conclusion: These results suggest that MAOA-uVNTR polymorphism do not play a role in boy's or girl's depression, anxiety and internalizing problem behaviors.
