Ghrelin, a recently discovered peptide hormone with strong growth hormone releasing activity,which circulates in acylated and desacylated forms. These two kinds of ghrelin are thought to lower blood pressure, fight inflammation, and protect vascular endothelial cells, but the mechanism between them is not exactly the same. This suggests a potential clinical value about their association with atherosclerosis. |
