Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of 1% bifonazole cream for the treatment of Malassezia folliculitis.Methods 80 patients of Malassezia foliculitis were divided into two groups.Treatment with 1% bifonazole cream or 2% ketoconazole lotion was applied once-daily to the affected area for 3 weeks.Efficacy assessment based on symptom/sign reducing index (SSRI).Result The clinical efficacy of the treatment group was better than that of control (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in fungus clearance rate between the two groups.No systemic side effects were found.Conclusion Topical use of 1% bifonazole cream is safe and effective for the treatment of Malassezia folliculitis.
