[Abstract] Objective To summarize the characteristics on diagnosis and therapy of adult diaphragmatic eventration. Method The clinical data of 3 patients with adult diaphragmatic eventration was reported in the paper. The relevant literature has been reviewed. The 3 patients， 1 males and 2 females，were aged from 61 to 66，with disease course of 1 to 20 years． 3 cases suffered from left diaphragmatic eventration, with total diaphragmatic eventration. All the patients had more than two symptoms with respiratory and digestive system．Results All patients received operations with the chest cavity under general anesthesia，3 eases were performed by double mattress suture with diaphragm discussion. Results Symptoms complete disappearance or relief was reported in all patients at the early stage after operation．There was no bad complication. Conclusion Surgical outcome，especially the double mattress suture is satisfactory for adult diaphragmatic eventration.
