【Abstract】Objective To investigate the imaging findings and diagnostic value of groove pancreatitis on CT and MR modalities. Methods Three subjects with CT, MRI, and clinical data which suspected a mass of the pancreatic head and proved pathologically to groove pancreatitis after the pancreas and duodenum resection were analyzed retrospectively. Results CT and MR images show a mass between the head of pancreas and the duodenum in all 3 cases, the masses appear as low density on CT images and low signal intensity on MR T1WI images, low signal intensity on MR T2WI images in 2 cases and high signal intensity in the rest one, gradual enhancement on contrast-enhanced CT and MR images. Thickened duodenal wall with narrowed lumen vary in the three cases. Conclusion Groove pancreatitis is similar to and may misdiagnose as pancreatic carcinoma, but some clinical features and imaging findings may be helpful for diagnosis. |
