Objective To study the effects of advanced glycosylation end products(AGEs) on the expression of G?protein subunit mRNA,and to evaluate the significance of G?protein in AGEs-mediated signal transduction pathways. Methods Alternation of G?protein subunit mRNA level in cultured rat aortic smooth muscle cell(ASMC) after exposure to AGEs was determined by a semi-quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT?PCR).Results The expression of Gsα subunit mRNA was up-regulated at least two folds than in the controls by AGEs in ASMC,whereas the levels of Goαsubunit mRNA declined significantly. Conclusion Some G?protein subunits may be involved in the AGEs-mediated cellular signal transduction pathways and pathological processes. |
