Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of MUC2 and MUC5AC protein in colorectal carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical technique(S-Pmethod)was used to detect the expression of MUC2 and MUC5AC protein in 20 cases of normal colorectal mucosa and 64 cases of colorectal carcinoma. Results The positive rate of MUC2 and MUC5AC protein in colorectal carcinoma were 59.4% and 60.9%,respectively.Compared with normal colorectal mucosa, differences were remarkable.A strong correlation was found between MUC2,MUC5AC protein positive expression and Dukes stage, lymphonode metastasis of colorectal carcinoma. Conclusion Down-regulation of MUC2 protein or up-regulation of MUC5AC protein may participate in the pathogenesis of colorectal carcinoma and be related to the invasion and metastasis of carcinoma. |
