Objective To observe the expression of proliferation in hippocampus following hypoxic-ischemic brain damage(HIBD) in neonatal rats and to explore the possible endogenous neurogenesis of brain. Methods Neonatal HIBD rat model was established and the rats were divided into sham group, hypoxia group,hypoxia-ischemia(HI) group.Brain of rats was obtained at different time points after HIBD to conduct HE staining, immunohistochemistry of BrdU.Results In the HI group, the level of BrdU-positive cell increased on the 3rd day of HIBD,reaching the peak on the 7th-14thday,and decreasing on the 21stday,all higher than that in other groups at different time(all P<0.05).Conclusion There is proliferation in hippocampus after HIBD.It is suggested that neonatal rat hippocampus is remarkably resistant to HI damadge, which possibly generates the protection for the hippocampus. |
